It consist on a summit and a hackathon around the topic of on early-onset diabetes.

Diabetes around prevention, early detection, risk prediction, patient engagement, digital health, AI, and improving diabetes care for younger populations.
3. Who can participate?
Doctors, nurses, researchers, students, engineers, designers, entrepreneurs, data scientists, public-health professionals, patients, and caregivers.
4. Do I need medical or technical experience?
You do not need to have medical or technical experience. Diverse perspectives are valuable.The hackathon is designed around collaboration. You don’t need to arrive with a finished product—or even a fully formed idea. Bring your curiosity, experience, and willingness to solve a real healthcare problem.
5. Do I need to have a team before registering?
You do not need to have a team and if you register without a team, we will assign you into a team before the hackathon.
6. What happens during the hackathon?
Describe the journey:
Identify a problem → form a team → understand the user → develop an idea → prototype → receive mentorship → pitch the solution.
This is consistent with the MIT Hacking Medicine approach of bringing diverse people together around healthcare problems and developing viable solutions.

Participants from Malaysia and internationally are welcome.

It is free to enter the hackathon. Tickets will be sold for the summit only.

There is only a student priced tickets for the Summit

Yes, you can join the summit only by purchasing a summit ticket

The mentors will be made up of MIT alumni as well as some local professionals in the related field.

There will be prizes given out to the winners as well as a chance to be included in the Grand Hackathon Boston in 2027.

Laptop, charger, identification, notebook, etc.
16. Will food and refreshments be provided?
Yes as this is a full day event we will be providing breakfast, lunch and tea break.
17. Can patients, caregivers, or people living with diabetes participate?
Yes, 100%. Their lived experience can help teams identify genuine unmet needs.
18. How will intellectual property be handled?
The ideas/prototypes created during the event will be solely own by the team that develops it unless they get an investment from an investor then the IP will be shared between them.
19. Will my idea be kept confidential?
Yes as our policy around confidentiality, photography, presentations, and public pitches is very important and NDAs will need to be signed.
20. Can I continue developing my project after the hackathon?
There will be great opportunities to develop the idea/project after the hackathon through incubation, mentorship, partnerships, funding, or follow-up opportunities.
21. Is this an official MIT event?
Yes, thisan official MIT Hacking Medicine event and as a result a few standout people will be chosen to participate in the Grand Hackathon at MIT campus Boston in 2027.
